O nome Pico do Facho, vem do facto dos habitantes de Machico acenderem pequenas fogueiras (fachos) no topo do pico, para avisar a população de ataques de piratas e corsários.
Poderá fazer uma levada em Machico, chamada Levada Nova Machico / Caniçal, é uma levada tranquila, de bom acesso e com cerca de 12 km. Começa no sítio dos Maroços e para lá poderá ir de autocarro via Maroços, termina no Caniçal, através da levada terá sempre a vista sobre a serra e sobre o mar, poderá ver os dois lados de Machico, o lado Este e o lado Oeste.
